ALTEA LESZCZYŃSKA.

Altea Leszczyńska after taking her master’s degree in linguistics (English, French and Spanish)
worked for a few years as a translator and a university teacher.

Since March 2006 she is a member of the Association of the Encouragement of Fine Arts
“Zachęta” in Częstochowa.
In 2009 she finished the Post-graduate Studies at the University of Fine Arts in Krakow.
Also in 2009 she finished the Course of Photography at the Academy of Photography in Krakow.

In 2009-2010 she studied Acting at the Krakow School of Art
She continues her education in Acting at the Krakow Theatre and Film School.

In June 2008 she was the curator of the exhbition “Gender in Modern Art”.

Reproduction of an engraving by Altea Leszczyńska entitled "Thou shall not harm angels"
appeared in the book "Anthology. My Guardian Angel".

She handles oil painting (mainly structural abstraction), copper plate engraving, dry needle
engraving, mezzotint, lithography and performance as well as video art.

In June 2009 she has become a member of The Literary Association “Li – TWA”.
In August 2009 she published her first novel entitled “Double Measure”.
Her latest novel entitled "Brother" was published in April 2010.
Her literary and publicist texts as well as poems were published in Fahrenheit,
Galeria, Aleje 3 and Panoptikum.

In July 2009 she appeared in a Poetic Event "A Girl from Auschwitz" in Krakow,
and in August 2010 she participated in an open-air play directed by Jarosław Tochowicz
during the Poets's Night in Krakow.

In her art creation Leszczyńska deals with gender matters, she often presents subjects
viewed so far as a taboo such as carnality, sexuality, transitoriness, suffering, grief,
agony and death. Her art may be described as a visualisation of obsessions,
erotism and anxieties.

Completely different current that she often deals with in her arts are the traditions
and culture of Jewish nation.
